1983 Dyane
1983 Citroen Dyane
This lovely Dyane from the last year of production has had two enthusiast owners since new. She was first sold in Bayeux, France. According to the service records, she never strayed far from home and was always serviced by the same Citroen Dealer where she was first bought. About four years ago the owner passed away and the family put the car up for sale. The car had been exceptionally well taken care of, with just 130’000km on the odometer at that time. She was purchased by a well know Citroen collector in Virginia. The car was much enjoyed, driven carefully, and well maintained. Last year she received a major mechanical update. The engine was replaced with a Burton remanufactured unit, as was the transmission. Both engine and transmission were built to the proper Dyane specifications, i.e. high compression pistons and tall ratio gear box. The kingpins were replaced, wheel arm bearings serviced, the track arm ball joints rebuilt. New front and rear wheel bearings installed. The carburetor was rebuilt and new brake pads were installed. Tires, wheel rims and bumpers were replaced earlier. The engine is equipped with a 123 electronic ignition and has been serviced with new spark plugs and cables. Please look at the pictures, the frame and body are very straight and genuinely rust free. (Yes, this is a driver so the chassis has not been detailed to Concourse d’Elegance standards ;-). The paint is excellent, the upholstery original and in good shape. Since the major work last year she has been driven about 1000 km. The obligatory oil – filter – lube and valve adjustment on the new engine will be done before the car is shipped to the new owner.
This is a lovely running and driving Dyane. Extremely rare in the US, but easy to service and all parts are readily available, and inexpensive. Like her sister the 2CV, Dyanes are highly reliable and hugely entertaining to drive. These cars return great fuel mileage and have plenty of power to keep up with modern traffic in the city. They will cruise along happily all day long at 65 mph on the highway. The car has a clear Virginia Title.
